Dr. Kortney Stinnett
Dr. Stinnett has been an educator in Sevier County for over 22 years. Since 2007, Dr. Stinnett has held the position of assistant principal at Sevier County High School. Before moving into administration, she taught U.S. History, World Geography, Contemporary Issues, and Teen Leadership. She has also served as an adjunct professor for Lincoln Memorial University.
Dr. Stinnett earned her Doctorate in Education with an emphasis in Administration from East Tennessee State University. She also holds a Master of Arts in Education from Cumberland University, an undergraduate specialist certification in Geography from East Tennessee State University, and a Bachelor of Arts in History from Lincoln Memorial University.
Mrs. Tina Carmichael
Mrs. Carmichael began her educational career at Sevier County High School. Most recently, she has served as assistant principal at Sevierville Middle School. She is excited to transition to Sevier County Junior High with her SMS students, meet new students from other local schools, and be part of the Sevier County Junior High family.
Dr. Taylor Franklin
Dr. Franklin is thrilled to join Sevier County Junior High as Assistant Principal. Having served six schools in Sevier County; including Northview Junior Academy and Gatlinburg-Pittman Junior High, he is excited to be a part of welcoming the students and working with the staff on the new junior high in the Sevierville community.
Beth Ownby
Mrs. Ownby has previously served as an assistant principal, a blended learning coach, and as a taecher in second, third, and fourth grades. Mrs. Ownby earned her bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas in 2006, her Master's Degree in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University in 2019, and her Education Specialist Supervisor of Instruction degree in 2021.
Mrs. Ownby and her husband Jared have four children: Ella Claire, Judson, Aubrey, and Allie.
Dr. Conner Powell
Dr. Powell is excited to join the administrative team at Sevier County Junior High this school year. He was born and raised not far from Sevier County, where he developed a love for the Great Smoky Mountains. Upon marrying his wife, Andrea, they decided to make Sevier County home. Andrea works as an ELA teacher at Sevierville Intermediate School. They have been married for approximately six years and are parents to a three-year-old little boy named Emmett. They are active members of and serve on staff at Connect Church in Sevierville.
Dr. Powell earned all of his collegiate degrees at Carson-Newman University. He holds a Doctorate degree in Educational Leadership, an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership, a Master’s degree in Business Administration, and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mathematics with a minor in Education. During the summer, he serves as an Adjunct Professor at Carson-Newman University. He also serves on Carson-Newman’s Education Advisory Council. Dr. Powell has teaching experience in the Jefferson and Sevier County School Systems, including teaching and substitute administrator roles at Sevier County High and Sevier County Junior High Schools. He was a Teacher of the Year at Sevier County Junior High during the 2023-2024 school year.
